1. Q. WHAT IS Ozark Virtual Airlines?
A. Ozark Virtual Airlines was founded by Ron Sprinkel in early 2002.  Ozark Virtual Airlines was set up to simulate the operations of the actual Ozark Airlines. They were bought out in 1986 by TWA and then American took them over eventually as well. Ozark and TWA were customer comes first airlines. That idea is long gone these days.

2. Q. WHAT FLIGHT SIMS DOES OZARK VIRTUAL USE?
A. Ozark Virtual supports Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (FS9), Flight Simulator X (FSX), and X-Plane (XP).

3. Q. WHAT IS REQUIRED BEFORE I CAN FLY FOR OZARK VIRTUAL?
A. You need to own Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (FS9), Flight Simulator X (FSX), and/or X-Plane (XP) and be
familiar with the operations of a commercial airline carrier.

4. Q. HOW DO I JOIN OZARK VIRTUAL?
A. Visit the Ozark Virtual
Operations web page for more information and to signup. You may also sign up by following the Join Us link in the menu above.

5. Q. DO OZARK VIRTUAL PILOTS NEED TERMINAL PROCEDURE BOOKS AND MAPS?
A. To enhance your experience with Ozark Virtual Airlines we recommend that pilots have a set of Terminal Procedure books and a set of IFR Enroute High Altitude charts for navigation.  These can be purchased from FBO's or via mail-order from Sporty's Pilot Shop (1-800-LIFTOFF).  Most charts can also be downloaded off the Internet like AirNav.com and MyAirplane.com .  Old sets of Terminal Procedure books and IFR Charts can be used; local FBO's might be willing to give away out-of-data sets.  The Terminal Procedure books provide procedures for Instrument Approach Procedures (IAPS), Standard Terminal Arrivals (STAR), and Standard Instrument Departures (DP) plus airport diagrams.  THESE CHARTS ARE NOT MANDATORY, however your flight experience will be more rewarding using them.

6. Q. WHAT AIRCRAFT DOES OZARK VIRTUAL FLY?
A. Ozark Virtual utilizes DC-9's, MD-82's, 727's, FH-227B's, Metroliners, and the classics like the DC-3, Martin 404, F-27, and Convair CV-240. We also fly the DH6 Twin Otters that Ozark leased for their Commuter Service between KSPI and KCGX, as well as the Dornier JET and T-Prop flown by the failed attempt at reviving Ozark Air Lines at the turn of the century. Other aircraft may be used for special events. Ozark Virtual aircraft in company livery are available for download for use with FS9 and FSX (no guarantees of compatibility with FSX are made) from the Ozark Virtual Hangar.

7. Q. WHERE ARE THE ROUTES WE FLY ?
A. You will get a user id and password once you sign up...then you will be provided with links to actual Ozark timetables as well as a searchable route database. If using the XACARS software, whether online or offline, flights can be loaded automatically by simply entering the flight number into the appropriate box.

8. Q. HOW OFTEN DOES AN OZARK VIRTUAL PILOT FLY?
A. Pilots are required to complete one flight per month to remain on the active flight roster.  However, most pilots will fly one or more flights per week or one weekly assignment. Most flights are in the 45 to 90 minute flight time range.  However, some may take 2 to 3 hours.

9. Q. DOES OZARK VIRTUAL USE ACARS PROGRAMS?
A. Yes, We currently utilize three ACARS programs: XACARS, FSACARS, and the newest kACARS. All three interface seamlessly with our PIREP system and pull flight data directly from our database to allow you to concentrate on flying, NOT filing reports.

10. Q. WHAT AWARDS DO OZARK VIRTUAL PILOTS RECEIVE?
A. Pilots receive ribbons as they accumulate flight time. Ribbons for outstanding service as well as special deeds to help fellow pilots or advance our VA.

11. Q. WHEN WILL MY HOURS BE POSTED TO MY FLIGHT LOG ?
A. Instantly, we use a automated pirep system here at Ozark Virtual. Also, if using any of our three ACARS programs, your pirep can be filed before you ever leave the cockpit.

12. Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANNOT FLY THIS MONTH?
A. If you cannot fly this month please advise the CEO. We understand the needs of real-life.

13. Q. WHERE CAN I GET WEATHER REPORTS FOR MY FLIGHTS?

15. Q. AM I STRAPPED TO ONLY ONE HUB OR CAN I TRANSFER TO ANOTHER?
A. As Ozark Air Lines only flew out of KSTL, we only have the one hub.

16.Q. WHAT IS A PROFILE DESCENT PROCEDURE?
A. A Profile Descent is a published Standard Terminal Arrival (STAR) procedure and can be found in the Terminal Procedure books.  A Profile Descent is an uninterrupted descent (except where level flight is required for speed adjustment) from cruising altitude/level to interception of a glide slope or to a minimum altitude specified from the initial or intermediate approach segment of a non-precision instrument approach.  The profile descent normally terminates at the approach gate or where the glide slope or other appropriate minimum altitude is intercepted.  For more info about Profile Descent Procedures, read the General Information notes in the front of each Terminal Procedure book.

17. Q. WHAT DO I DO IF I WANT TO LEAVE OZARK VIRTUAL AIRLINES?
A. If you find that Ozark Virtual is too demanding you may request a leave-of-absence or terminate your membership.  Please advise any director if this is what you wish to do.  Please do not just disappear on us.  We understand the needs of real-life.  As an option to termination, pilots may take a leave of absence rather than quitting Ozark Virtual.  This way you will not be losing the flight time you have acquired.  Pilots can return to active duty when able.  Pilots on leave of absence may also fly during their leave when they have time.
